Designing My Next Novel
Last week, I spoke of following a more formal process in publishing my next book. As a start, here are some of the components of my work breakdown structure. Design, Packaging, Marketing, and Distribution. I am starting with Design. Though the story is written, it is hardly complete. I will use the "Snowflake Method" to enhance the existing body of work, further explore and document the characters backgrounds and motivations, and ideally enhance what many already consider an engaging story.

First Amazon, then Smashwords, and now Lulu!
I spent more time than I would like to admit setting up "To Have His Cake (and Eat It Too): Mr. Darcy's Tale" as an ebook on Lulu.com. Despite many starts and stops this week, all due to formatting, I like the finished product exceedingly. Proper formatting aside, the one thing I found particularly frustrating was my inability to upload my book cover successfully. The "Accept" feature did not seem to work. It turned out my web browser (which shall not be mentioned by name) was the culprit. An Internet search for a solution led me to Mozilla's Firefox. I think I'm in love.

The Art of Self-publishing
I intend to approach the publication of my next Pride and Prejudice adaptation with far more discipline than I have exercised in the past. As much fun as it has been to "just do it", I consider there must be significant advantages to following a plan. First step, develop a work breakdown structure. Stay tuned!
